WIDEFIELD
Widefield is a contemporary art platform dedicated to the production of artist multiples. Established in 2016, the project began with Exhibitions on Paper, a silkscreen artist edition series that invited artists to view paper as a unique exhibition space. Today, Widefield focuses on producing and showcasing limited artist editions across various techniques, creating objects that can be exhibited over time.
Widefield has been featured at international publishing fairs in Basel, Zurich, and Geneva, as well as in numerous art spaces across Switzerland and Europe.
HISTORY
Widefield focuses on fostering dialogue with invited artists and exploring experimental possibilities in production. The project was initially part of the artistic programmation of a former tram stop in Geneva. Exhibitions on Paper was created as an extension to the exhibition format which allowed produced objects to travel and be exhibited in time.
The project provides artists with an alternative space for expression and visibility early in their careers, distinct from traditional exhibitions. Today, Widefield operates as a nomadic platform, creating new connections and concentrating on the production and dissemination of artist editions.
STATEMENT
For each project, an individual approach is encouraged, with close dialogue between the artist and Widefield. Together, decisions are made regarding the publishing format, printing technique, choice of paper, and other details. Widefield offers artists a wide range of possibilities for conceptual interventions, ensuring that every decision aligns closely with their practice. The process and production are central to Widefield's identity, which defines itself more as a production platform than a traditional exhibition space.
TEAM
Widefield’s team is composed of artists Matheline Marmy and Jean-Marie Fahy, and has been joined by producer Vassiliki Koliouli since 2024. With professional backgrounds in curation, photography, graphic design, and management, we bring a variety of skills and perspectives into our collaboration.
Our multidisciplinary approach allows us to enrich both the edition series as a whole and the conversation with the individual positions we invite.
